Despite this change, enthusiasm for the pioneering electric series remains strong, with teams and organizers committed to forging a sustainable future for Swedish motorsport.

“Of course, it’s unfortunate that SNB Events AB is concluding its role as STCC’s promoter,” said Anna Nordkvist, Secretary General of the Swedish Motorsport Federation. “But championships changing hands is nothing new. We still see enormous potential in the STCC, which has taken historic strides forward in delivering climate-smart, entertaining, and reliable top-tier racing on a national level.”

STCC, founded in 1996, has grown into one of Europe’s leading touring car championships, known for nurturing talents like Mattias Ekström, Thed Björk, Johan Kristoffersson, and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky. In 2024, Brink Motorsport, CUPRA Sweden – PWR, and Exion Racing proved that fully electric racing can be thrilling, and all three teams have signaled their intent to continue competing in 2025.

"We believe in the sport’s potential to inspire, develop, and entertain, and we are ready to continue this journey."

Micke Jansson, CEO at PWR Group, expressed both disappointment and pride: “We as a team in STCC are surprised and disappointed by the news that STCC’s promoter has decided to cease operations. At the same time, we are incredibly proud of the journey the championship has undertaken, where together in 2024, we demonstrated that sustainable and electric racing can be both thrilling and entertaining. We look forward to working with the Swedish Motorsport Federation and other stakeholders to find new ways to ensure a future for Swedish electric motorsport. We believe in the sport’s potential to inspire, develop, and entertain, and we are ready to continue this journey.”

Micke Bern, CEO of SNB Events AB, acknowledged the challenges of recent years but remains confident that the STCC will thrive under new guidance: “Now we pass on the baton. The current concept is still strong, and we’re glad to see the Federation and the teams determined to race on in 2025.”

With a storied legacy, a proven electrified format, and teams eager to push forward, the STCC appears poised for its next chapter—one that promises to keep Sweden at the forefront of innovative, high-energy motorsport.
