It’s been a season where the team faced numerous challenges but also moments of triumph. The journey throughout the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship (STCC) has been tough, but CUPRA Sweden-PWR’s passion for racing and the determination to push boundaries never wavered. Despite the setbacks earlier in the year, the performance during the final weekend at Mantorp Park gave them more than one thing to celebrate.

CUPRA Sweden-PWR Wrapping Up the STCC Season: Celebrating Milestones and Progress at Mantorp Park

September 22, 2024

In much better conditions than we’ve seen most of the season, Axel Bengtsson secured his first podium finish in Race one, on Saturday, and all three drivers have now had a taste of the podium this year—a testament to the team’s progress. In the second Saturday race Robert Dahlgren reached the podium too, securing 3rd position. This race also marked his 200th career start, adding another highlight to his accomplished racing journey.

"It’s been a season full of ups and downs, but we’ve stuck together as a team through it all. Closing out the year at Mantorp Park with Axel’s first podium and Robert reaching the podium again in his 200th race was a great way to end. We didn’t always get the results we wanted, but the final weekend showed our progress and resilience. Now we’re ready to reset and come back stronger next season." says Marcus Ekström, Team Principal for CUPRA Sweden-PWR.

Beyond the action on the track, PWR Group also had the privilege of hosting over 130 students on Friday, offering them the opportunity to engage with our partners and learn from the industries driving innovation. This unique initiative allowed students to connect with leading companies like Atlas Copco, Scania, Skellefteå Kraft, Engström Bil representing CUPRA, and Werksta, showcasing how motorsport serves as a dynamic platform for inspiring future engineers, mechanics, and technicians.

As Micke Jansson, CEO of PWR Group, reflects: "This season didn’t unfold exactly as we had envisioned, but the final weekend gave us a strong boost of momentum. Friday, in particular, was a highlight as we maximized the potential of our motorsport platform by bringing companies and students together. The interaction between young talents and our partners perfectly embodies our mission—not just to compete, but to actively nurture and develop the next generation of technical expertise.”

The curtains have closed on another thrilling STCC season, but the energy and excitement surrounding our team continue to grow as we prepare for the next chapter. Mantorp Park may have marked the end of this year’s racing action, but the passion, innovation, and spirit that drive CUPRA Sweden-PWR will continue to push us forward.
