Startfältet i världsserien är det tuffaste på många år med totalt 14 VM-titlar bland de deltagande förarna. Mästerskapet avgörs under tio racehelger med totalt 30 race och är en ordentlig måttstock för alla deltagande team och förare.

– Utvecklingen har gått ofattbart fort sedan vi startade PWR Racing 2012 och nu står vi inför vår första internationella säsong. Det är en bra chans för oss att mäta vår kapacitet på den allra högsta nivån, något jag verkligen ser fram emot! PWR Racing har sedan 2016 framgångsrikt representerat SEAT Sverige och CUPRA Racing i Skandinavien med tre mästerskapstitlar på tre säsonger i STCC. Teamet kommer fortsatt att tävla med två CUPRA TCR i den Skandinaviska serien för att försvara sina titlar.

– Det här är ett stort och viktigt steg för PWR Racing. Inför säsongen 2016 fick vi förtroendet att axla rollen som det officiella SEAT-teamet i Skandinavien. Att nu få samma möjlighet att representera SEATs systervarumärke CUPRA på den internationella scenen är ett starkt kvitto och en klapp på axeln till alla som arbetat med PWR Racing de senaste åren, säger Peter ”Poker” Wallenberg, medgrundare till PWR Racing.

Teamet har sedan starten 2012 lagt stort fokus vid att utveckla unga talanger inom racing. Föraruppställningen till WTCR speglar detta fokus och består av en mix av lång erfarenhet och ungdomlig talang. De två förarna utgör en spännande duo i jakten på internationella framgångar. Mästerskapet som spänner över stora delar av året börjar med officiella försäsongstester i Barcelona den 28 mars. Premiären går sedan av stapeln den femte april i Marocko och säsongen avslutas den femtonde december* i Malaysia.

PWR Racing enters WTCR with CUPRA Racing

The Swedish team PWR Racing has received manufacturer support from CUPRA Racing and will make its debut on the world stage as it enters in WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO with two CUPRA TCR.

The WTCR grid for 2019 is the most competitive in many years, boasting a total of 14 world championship titles among the competing drivers. The champion is to be decided over the course of ten race weekends and no less than 30 races. A proper challenge for both teams and drivers.

– The progress for PWR Racing has been extremely fast since we were founded in 2012 and we’re now heading in to our first international season. It’s a great opportunity to measure ourselves against the very best. I’m looking forward to it and I’m grateful for the trust that CUPRA Racing has put in us to represent their brand in WTCR, says Daniel Haglöf, PWR Racing co-founder and CEO.

PWR Racing has represented SEAT Sweden and CUPRA Racing in Scandinavia with great success since 2016, winning three STCC championship titles in three years. The team will continue to run two CUPRA TCR in the Scandinavian TCR series alongside the WTCR programme.

The team have had clear focus to develop and support emerging talents since the start in 2012. The driver line up for WTCR reflects this focus and consists of a mix of experience and youthful talent. PWR Racing and Comtoyou will both run CUPRA cars in WTCR. A strategic partnership with joint efforts from both teams enables PWR to enter WTCR with CUPRA Racing. The championship starts with official testing in Barcelona on the 28th of March. The season premiere is then held in Morocco 5th-7th of April, ending with the season finale in Malaysia 13th-15th* of December.
