April 15, 2024

STCC continues the 100 percent electric drive this upcoming 2024 season as well. Reigning championship team CUPRA Sweden-PWR aims to defend its position with the help of the Cupra Born and four-time STCC champion Robert Dahlgren. Dahlgren will pilot one of the team's three Cupra Born cars. While the car is still undergoing development, it is poised to deliver 550 horsepower from its electric motors, propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds. Next up is Axel Bengtsson, who will join reigning champion Robert Dahlgren in driving the team's three Cupra Born cars. With Axel on board, PWR Group and CUPRA Sweden-PWR continue to nurture new talent. Stepping into touring car racing alongside the most successful STCC-driver ever, Robert Dahlgren, Axel forms a strong lineup with Robert's experience and expertise combined with Axel's promising talent.

“Together with Robert Dahlgren, we have a formidable driver lineup with Axel Bengtssonto defend our STCC titles this year," says Marcus Ekström, team principal for CUPRA Sweden-PWR

Axel Bengtsson comes from karting, and 2022 marked Axel's debut year with PWR. As a rookie, he secured victory in the Junior Swedish Championship, earned two podium finishes, and triumphed in the final race at Mantorp Park.

"It feels absolutely fantastic to get the chance to continue on with the best team in STCC, to immediately have access to top-notch equipment and work with very talented people," says Axel Bengtsson.

As the STCC season kicks off with a city-race in the middle of Gothenburg, Sweden on June 8-9, the CUPRA Sweden-PWR drivers aim to contribute as many points as possible to both them and the team.

"Above all, the season is about always finishing races and picking up as many points as possible, and doing all the basics as well as we can do. We are always racing to win, and the new electric STCC doesn’t make that any different. I know this is going to be a big challenge for myself and the entire PWR but we are going to work as a team to achieve our goals," concludes Robert Dahlgren

To conclude the anticipation is palpable for CUPRA Sweden-PWR's drivers, Robert Dahlgren and Axel Bengtsson. With their formidable lineup and commitment to excellence, the team is poised to make their mark on the championship once again. As they hit the track, their mission is clear: to not only secure victories for themselves but also to contribute vital points towards the team's collective success. With each race, they aim to push the boundaries of performance, showcasing the true spirit of motorsport and cementing their legacy as champions.

For the forthcoming STCC season, there remains one driver whose participation is yet to be disclosed, heightening anticipation and speculation within the racing community.
